This would work on me for many games. But I don’t drink. I’m at home playing the games.
Statistically speaking, it was bound to work eventually.
Step 1: Be attractive.
Step 1A: find a shared interest, which helps make you fulfill Step 1 goals.
Caveat: you have to actually have any interests. Unfortunately many men mistake jerkin it to anime for an interest, and so fail to follow this step as well
Yep. Too many people think attractive only means good looking. I may not be good looking, but I’m not real smart either. I forget where I was going with this.
I’ve never seen anyone take the “step 1. Be attractive Step 2. Don’t be unattractive” as anything but a meme. I don’t think it’s meant to be actual advice.
Like what you are saying tracks and is fine, I just didn’t expect someone to actually turn it into a reasonable 2 step program 😄
You have to have somebody be willing to talk to you before you can charm them.
A baseline of grooming, clothes that fit, and welcoming expression and body language makes a HUGE diff.
Step two: draw the rest of the owl.
Well if she doesn’t find you handsome. She should at least find you handy.
Remember, I’m pulling for you. We’re all in this together.
Ah, people of culture.
Thanks Mom!
Why … is she talking … like that … though … ?
it’s a cue that the post is intended to be read in william shatner’s voice
Because it truly is baffling to her that two individuals can share interests beyond ‘hey, wan sum fuck?’ .
Yep.
And it doesn’t even have to be something they find particularly interesting. People are social animals. The socialising is less important than the subject of discussion.
Hell, people will watch/do stuff they find boring, just so they can have something to chat about with colleagues or friends on a monday. A bit like that IT Crowd episode, where they pretend to care about football/soccer.
In this case, the guy picked something he guessed they probably both played as children and had some nostalgia for, resulting in a low stakes conversation while they figure out if they’re attracted to each other.
It’s actually a good flirting/bonding tip. Talk about something you both enjoyed as children, so the first interaction has positive associations and is relatively low stakes. Having differing opinions on some aspect of roblox isn’t ever going to be a deal breaker, is it?
…The point of the post was that two adults are bonding over playing roblox as adults and how cringe it is. Not that they played when they were kids
I would never date someone who plays Roblox. That company employs child labour using loopholes in the labour regulations. They get kids designing games for them to sell microtransations to other kids. It should be illegal.
Kids should be playing games without dark patterns, like Deep Rock Galactic or Stardew Valley. My baby cousin likes Plague Inc and Noita, those are good games for a kid to play.
I would never date someone who played Roblox
You realize how much of a class indicator this and the rest of your comment is, right? Roblox runs in a browser, none of the poor kids who’ve played Roblox recognize what you’re saying — they’re just poor and don’t have options.
Morals aren’t really valuable if all they do is act as big waving signs saying ‘I don’t like the poors’.
it’s not. my nephews that play it come from househoulds with 300K+ incomes.
poor kids are playing xbox because they can’t afford expensive gaming PCs.
let them eat xbox
Probably has an enlarged Shatner’s Bassoon.
Cake is a made up drug
I too have an enlarved sharter.
Replace the ellipses with em dashes and maybe it’ll make more sense to you
I think it’s meant to be interpreted as “catching your breath when talking while laughing” pauses?
I thought it was to express incredulity like she is shocked this is possible
i don’t understand the appeal of stuff like roblox.
i played second life back in 2003 and it was boring as shit to me then. robox just seems like the kid-focused version of that in 2025. and yet three of my nephews are addicted to it.
Years and years ago I worked for a startup that was building a 3D social media world (think Second Life meets Facebook). Dev asked me to do research on Second Life as a new user. Give my opinion of things like sign up, getting to know the software and worlds, whats wrong with it, what’s good about it.
I spent a week in that thing. It was horrible and lonely.
From what I understand, it’s more like a Garry’s Mod type game. Just a sandbox that let’s you build fun and/or dumb stuff to do with your friends. I’ve never played but I understood the appeal after it was explained to me that way.
i don’t like doing dumb stuff because it’s dumb and a huge waste of time.
sounds like it’s the reality tv of video games.
Roblox is a really stupid platform with a lot of really bad exploitive ideas.
But I think the popularity of games like it and fortnite are huge indicators that we need more third spaces for our children. There’s nowhere really for any kids to hang out easily anymore other than at school or online. When school ends, what are they supposed to do? Sure. Some kids are lucky enough to have transportation and can hang out with each other. Can bike across the neighborhood. But in our car-centric society that’s not so easy for everybody, especially children.
These online spaces tend to be the easiest route for children to hang out in the modern age. If we want kids to be spending less time online, we need to build them spaces they can spend time in real life.
i used to hang out in the woods behind my house with my friends from the street. we’d just make up games, ride our bikes, make forts, stuff like that.
Lmao get off the internet then loser.
I don’t consider having fun a waste of time, just like I don’t consider yummy cuisine a waste of food. Half of the reason to be alive is to enjoy it, and the other half is to endure it.
yeah i don’t think life is a burden. i notice a lot of people who spend a lot of time doing nothing and bullshitting and consuming low quality products… tend to think life is a burden.
It sounds like you have a big bias against people who do things you dislike. I hate soccer but I don’t find it a waste of time if it makes people happy, or think less of them for playing it, either.
Many of the games in Roblox manage to basically recreate many “real” games except within Roblox where kids don’t have to beg their parents for another new game. That’s the big thing for kids, tons of replayability with a single purchase so they don’t have to rely on their parents spending more money
Different strokes for different folks I guess. I consider doing dumb stuff with your friends when you’re a kid to be one of life’s greatest joys
I think the idea is that if you can make a functional game within a game, that leaves a lot of room for experimentation that otherwise wouldn’t get done, like has been done in the past with modding tools. Some of the games within Roblox seem pretty innovative, it’s just a shame that the way they do business is so focused on microtransactions and psychological manipulation/exploitation of children.
You sound like a vulcan. Sorry not all of us can be as efficient and practical all the time I guess? Quit yucking other people’s yum
Doesn’t it have loads of games within it? When my son plays he might be shooting, or driving, or doing some kind of obstacle course.
It is a game where you can create your own games.
Playing minigames is nice, but using it as your own game engine is great.
Up to a certain extent, until it just becomes a storefront that takes 70%+ of your money instead of 30% (steam, app stores) 10% (epic) or 0% (self-published, etc)
It’s 30% revenue for games and in-game micro transactions and 70% for character cosmetics. Different markets with different revenue share schemes.
Sounds like Yakuza games.
To me it’s like fishing or cards. Technically there’s an activity, but what you’re really doing is shooting the shit in a casual social setting.

Fuck this timeline.
Why tho? This is cute. Maybe she had some clothing or accessories on that gave it away. If not then its just a crazy lucky guess. Either way its wholesome.
If you know anything about roblox culture you wouldn’t think this is cute.
Is this something new? Because I played Roblox kind of obsessively a while back, and I have no idea what you’re talking about. I talked to a little girl about Beanie Boos. Lots of kids inventing ways to bypass the swear filters.
People Make Games has a 2 video series talking about the problems specifically for developers.
- “Investigation: how Roblox is exploiting young game developers” (23m) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gXlauRB1EQ
- “Roblox pressured us to delete our video. So we dug deeper.” (35m) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTMF6xEiAaY
They have a pedophile problem that the company refuses to address, and they also exploit children. Which I read they wanted to double down on that. I also played it with my kids. Even built my own game. But after what I learned I stop playing and also stop giving them money.
Are… Are you also a little girl and or kid?
Ah yes because there have been pedophiles playing a game, the whole game is unplayable now? I never even played roblox, but by that logic minecraft would be just as bad.
Ah yes because there have been pedophiles playing a game, the whole game is unplayable now?
Good ol’ social media logic.
Can’t play classic games, either: some skeevy shit must have gone down at some point in history with every one of those. Same with the English language: did you know every English-speaking serial killer & child molester spoke English‽ Same with being human: all horrible people were human, so humans are monsters. Humanity is overrated anyway: better to burn them all.
