He previously made a public call to action. I see no reason why he shouldn’t send the same sort of critical public message again.

All he cared about was getting elected again and figured there would be no accountability. We’re still waiting to see if it’s true.
The only thing I can think of is that they legitimately thought that the Democrats were just as deep in as Trump and them were. That their big plan was to get into power, hide their crimes, then hang the Democrats out to dry, etc. But by the time they got done hiding stuff to protect Trump and the billionaires there was basically nothing left.
