Same thing in buddhism. If I quote a thing that makes no sense to me or anybody, it’s legit because a famous teacher said it. But if I just freestyle my own observation, that’s a no no.

You read the tea leaves after you’ve had tea. The Old Ones don’t appreciate food waste.

Everyone knows proper ravioli divination is done by consuming the can of ravioli, then listening carefully to the indigestion.

Because wasting perfectly good* food is unwitchy. You wanna divine using a can of ravioli? Empty it into a pan, cook it, and observe how it cooks as the sauce boils over. Meditate on the movement of each raviolo. Then - and this is the important part - let it cool a little, season it, and eat it.

(edit: I mean good as in edible, not good as in high quality)

My only problem with this scenario is the possibility that some underpaid gas station employee will be forced to scrape up a bunch of crusted ravioli off the pavement in addition to their other responsibilities, clean up behind yourself and we’re cool

Oh I have guide on how to do this BTW. Lemme find it…

    Tasseography

/ “Tea Leaf Reading,” and adaptable to other randomized splatter patterns

I use this as an introspective / meditative experience. It’s kind of like a complicated Rorschach evaluation of yourself that you can use to bring your subconscious thoughts forward. You just sit and meditate on your mental state in the context of your past, present, and future and in four primary domains (see below). It would work with any random splatter pattern: instead of a handle you would read it starting at where you’re standing relative to the image and move your way around it clockwise starting at fire and proceeding through to earth. Although, as others have stated, beginning with food waste whether it’s ravioli or the entrails of a slaughtered animal is likely not good even from a practical and non-metaphysical perspective on the concept of karma.

    light mode

    Process

    1. Use a cup with a handle or identify / create a mark for the side the cup is held by.
    2. Brew a cup of loose leaf tea (not in a bag / infuser or poured through a filter).
    3. Meditate while drinking the tea.
    4. Leave only a small amount of water.
    5. Hold the cup upright in the left #hand
    6. Swirl the cup gently clockwise.
    7. Invert the cup over a saucer or dish.
    8. Wait at least a minute but not more than 5.
    9. Pick the cup up with your right hand.
