Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Hot take: levy a "vehicle footprint" fee on SUVs and trucks - charge for the space and wear they actually take from our streetsEnglish
2·3 days agoYou do pay more for tabs, but thats it. It should be based on miles driven in said massive SUV.
I should be basically paid to drive my tiny miata when these idiots rip up the roads with their off road tires that never touch dirt and their 12 " lift kits.
I have a 1980s pickup that is a long box single cab that I actually use for hauling, and it maybe gets 3k miles a year on it. I pay 4x more for tabs on that vs the miata.

3·3 days agoWell mine have always been plastic. However you know the ice dispensers in fridges also produce microplastics over the years as well

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What types of cleaning products do you *really* need to clean the bathroom?
2·3 days agoI looked at a place that had it in the front yard. And they had 2 tanks, one was the original concrete cistern of the house converted to septic then it piped out to a newer plastic tank… real weird. 1904 house
They are fun to use, they sound neat, and they dont give me data overload of a 1 tb hard drive filling up and wondering where all the space went. Sure, all you can use it for is a few text docs or 10 low res pictures, but its at least physical and a lot harder to wreck than a cd.

Also, read the Power of Now. I guarantee it will help you.
Sounds like you need to get off modern tech.
Plus in a ps2 to a non smart tv, read some books, shut off the phone, unplug the router.
24/7 news is horrible for us. And newsflaah (lol) you can’t do a single thing about the state of the world, so do what you can, be nice to neighbors (even magas, if theyre not violent), go to spaces with like minded people in your area if you can, etc.
Holy shit, my old job was EXACTLY this. Rolling in money but wont bolt down the damn racking. So glad I left.
Also overheard the upper managers talking about how worker labor cost is basically free to them because they underpay everyone. That pissed me off.
Im also wondering this.
I’ve tried installing it on 2 different pcs a few times and ive not gotten it to work yet lol. Granted I didnt spend a lot of time on it.
I appreciate you can build the system yourself but its almost choice overload for adhd me and ill end up installing every single package anyway that ill never need, which negates the point of arch.

4·3 days agoMy dad used bleach and hard cleaners on his septic and it still lasted 50 years so youre probably fine. Also drove heavy equipment over top of it many times, which one should not do
