On the other hand people will think they know what you’re going to say and keep interrupting to change the subject.

Counterpoint: Other people waiting for ADHDers to finish rambling bc they got your point like 5 mins ago.

No hate as I am part of this comm, my SO lovingly brought this up. 😂

Yes, they understood our point, but did they understand it in the way we need them to understand?

Other people waiting to ask ADHDers what point they were originally trying to make before they interrupted themselves to ramble for five minutes about a dozen other things…

      And knowing they won’t remember.

Was gonna say this, too. I’ve known some people who assume what I’m saying before I’m done, and then go on to show they didn’t actually listen and didn’t grasp the point at all.

Don’t guess what people are trying to say. Listen to them. They’re telling you. You don’t have to guess. 😅

My issue is a lot of people explain their reason before they get to the point, but their reasoning is based on incorrect assumptions or misinformation they have taken as truth.

So you have to sit there and try to remember their argument and why it’s wrong while they are continuing on with faulty logic that you already know is misinformed. It should be entirely acceptable to break someone’s chain of thought to correct someone on something they are misunderstanding.

My brother is like that a lot I see it in his face fighting to not start talking as he’s not listening to anything I’m saying

Yesnt. There’s definitely a role for interpretation. But you shouldn’t be interrupting people

More like me wanting to add something but they are taking way too long to make their point and I don’t want my squirrel brain to forget what I wanted to add.

This happens with my mom (who also has adhd), I’ll understand what she’s saying but then she keeps going and going and I don’t want to interrupt because it’s rude but it drives me a little crazy (I love her dearly)

The best part is that some people will try to change what they are going to say to prove you wrong and in doing so will say something stupid. That is the point you tell them they had it right to start with and changing what they were going to say only made them wrong. Their butthurt is a balm for my executive dysfunction.
