Chow was criticized by pro-Israel Jewish groups, who said her comments were antisemitic and could encourage violent reprisals against the Jewish community.

I fear the Jewish community will one day regret using “antisemitic” as a cover for genocide or zionist colonialism. It does irreperable damage to protection from real hate crimes.

It’s not the Jewish community, but Zionists specifically. Their sole motivation is to protect the fascist Israeli government at all cost, and they will completely devalue the meaning of antisemitism to that end.

They don’t care about protecting Jews from hatred, and they completely ignore the views of countless Jewish people who oppose the genocide. Including Holocaust survivors and their descendants.

Exactly. Let’s refuse to reduce the Jewish community to the pro-israeli shills. The Zionists shouldn’t be handed out a monopoly on Jewishness. Prominent critics of Israeli crimes are themselves Jewish Canadians. In fact, soon we might have one of them, the unabashedly outspoken Avi Lewis, leading the federal NDP.

People will study how this purposeful conflation of religion and state contributed to normalizing mass violence for the rest of our lives and beyond. It has become the most brutal case study about anti-solidarity on earth.
