What’s wrong with enjoying winter from the comfort of indoors?
Tbh I love it outside too, at least when its snowy and not wet.
Also hot chocolate tastes 10x+ better when you’ve been out in the cold.
The trick is you have to be out there for at least 20 minutes to acclimate. Otherwise it just hurts a little and then you get hot when you go back inside.
Source: I work outside in Northern New England including on the sides of mountains.
Shitty take. It’s like: People be like: I love summer and then stay inside in the A/C.
Or in a pool. Smh
Gatekeeping people’s enjoyment is shitty behavior.
Calling people out for hypocrisy is proper behaviour.
It’s not hypocrisy to enjoy a cozy blanket and a hot beverage any time of the year. It just turns out that winter is a lot more enjoyable time to enjoy those than summer!
It doesn’t rally have anything to do with the winter, so yeah, kinda is. Unless you’re outside first, then coming in for that cozy feeling, them why would it matter if it was winter or not?
Does your house not get cold in the winter? We have winter bedding because the bedroom doesn’t get above 60F in the winter and below 80F in the summer.
Not really no. We have district heating, plus my computer runs quite often. I have the same cover/bedding year around. That and we have properly isolated houses, since it does get cold outside. It does backfire a bit during summer though. Especially nowadays. Most people install air conditioners now, which was unheard of 20 years ago.
Makes sense, you’ve gotta be pretty bougie to think a heated blanket is hypocrisy.
Edit: it’s currently 2C outside and I just turned the space heater off because it’s starting to smell funny.
It’s not about the blanket though is it?
For the same reason it isn’t “winter” year round inside a freezer.
It’s a time of year, with all the changes in weather, climate, and home maintenance that come along with that. Not a temperature.
Loving something through a window isn’t hypocrisy.
If you say so. Sounds pretty accurate if you ask me. But then again, i really do like the winter and being outside.
I mean, loving something from the same room (or space) isn’t hypocrisy, either.
People can like the same thing, for different reasons. Someone elses mode of enjoyment differing from yours doesn’t make them a hypocrite.
Saying they like something that they don’t actually like, does.
Yes. But that’s not a retort. You’re assuming you can tell whether someone is genuine based on how they enjoy the same thing you do.
You’re either desperate to get the last word in, or legitimately obtuse.
I could rephrase one more time, but you’re clearly either unwilling or incapable of understanding what I’m saying.
I could say the same about you.
people be like “I love the world!” from the surface of a planet with an atmosphere and in the golden zone of warmth of their star. No. Go outside and let’s see
I think it’s just good natured tomfoolery
You can only be cozy in the cold weather, plus you can wear a coat if it’s cold but you can’t wear an anti-coat if it’s hot. When I was too young to fully understand seasons I used to have nightmares about it suddenly becoming summer because it’s just such an awful time of year
This is a large part of the winter appeal for me. Dressing for winter is easier then for very hot weather. Although I do use a wide brimmed hat for heat now, it’s like a tiny free cooler!
I still get panicked about summer, or even the thought of tolerating that hell of a season. Mainly it’s because it has been a pain in the ASS to keep my house comfortably cold or to even have and maintain an air conditioner. It’s expensive, and if the heat gets over a certain threshold, swamp coolers and air conditioners become ineffective at a certain point. It’s legitimately scary. I don’t want to boil alive or die of heat stroke. One power outage in the summertime could mean you’re completely fucked. I wish more people treated summer and climate change as more of a threat to life.
you can’t wear an anti-coat if it’s hot.
There are all kinds of active and passive cooling suits.

If you find an army-looking one, you can be truly tacticool.
They’re powered and still aren’t nearly as effective as a sweater, let alone a coat.
What’s wrong with loving putting on snuggly warm clothing in winter? Not to mention that I love both warm inside and cold outside in winter.
When I was a child, I loved snow. The adults told me that when I had to start shoveling the walkway and driveway, my love would fade. It did not.
Then I was told that when I learned to drive, I would hate it. First snowstorm after I got my license, I instantly headed out to an empty parking lot to practice donuts. I’ve been caught in sudden storms and watched other cars slide off the road. I still love snow.
Then I was told that when I got a job and had to support a family that I’d hate snow. Yet this has come to pass, and I still squee like a child when snow starts. I long to take walks in it. I dream of sledding, or building snowmen, or throwing snowballs, even in my middle age, even if I can no longer run as I used to.
No, you will never take my love of winter from me. Summer heat, get thee behind me.
I hate driving in the snow and rain, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the weather.
practice donuts
I believe you’re looking for the words “whipping shitties”
At least winter is comfortable inside. Summers get so warm now that there’s often no escape from the heat. Where I live AC used to be completely unnecessary so rental apartments with AC basically don’t exist.
And as someone with a delayed circadian rhythm I also hate daylight saving time. I don’t want to get up an hour earlier every day. Why do morning people get to force their lifestyle on us?

A sun nap in 90°F/32°C is the absolute best idk what you’re talking about
Presuming your summer stops at 32, sure. Less fun having 32 be the low overnight.
Found the scandinavian?
In other places, only tourists walk in the sun summertime.
“mad dogs and Englishmen”
But that’s about the midday sun in India - waaaay more than 32deg C
I would like to take a nap in the shade on a hot sunny summer day.
I like winter because I can control it, you can always get warmer, it’s harder to get colder in summer.
As I like to say, “you can always put more clothes on. You can only take so much off before the cops show up.”
I like winter because I can control it
Can you make it stop for a bit, like maybe the next 24 hours? We need rain much more than we need snow and ice.
Sorry I can only control the weather locally unfortunately.
Rats.
No no, the snow is good. Work already messaged me to say we’d be closed Monday. Don’t make them go back on their word.
People be like, “I love pizza,” after having a couple of slices for dinner. No. Eat 10 pizzas. Let’s see.
Jokes on you. I love the cold. I unironically enjoy being out in - 30 weather. Yes its cold as fuck but it feels fucking fresh. If theres a bit of sun too. Perfection.
I don’t get cold much either. If the temps are subzero, I just heat myself up in my bigass jacket and heavy clothes inside my home with the heater going a little before I leave, and I’ll feel comfortable even in subzero temps for hours lol it’s not bad at all.
-30, eh? I might consider a jacket.
-20 is when I can wear my thick hoodie without sweating.
❌ hot girl summer
✅ cold bitch winter
While winter is far from my favourite season, it has its charms:
- Cold temperature outside means indoors is never too hot for comfort
- The snow is pretty
- Winter sports are fun
Given the choice, I would take spring or autumn however, which has more sunlight and better conditions for biking
The snow is pretty

I feel you. We had no snow at all during December, but January has been decently white at this point.
It complicates running and biking, but it’s definitely pretty.
Oh we had some snow 3 weeks ago but it’s currently raining outside so yeah…
You can have all the snow we’re getting right now if you’d like! So much snow!
Yeah rather that than the rain that’s currently pouring outside
You’ll have to come pick up the snow quick, because it’s going to turn to sleet mush some time today lol!
For me it’s partly the cozy socks, partly the fact that people in general aren’t out and about as much so it makes the whole world feels less chaotic and overstimulating.
People who don’t like winter act like they are freezing to death the second it’s below 50F
My least favorite thing about winter isn’t the weather. It’s how little daylight we get.
When my wife and I were living in a basement, I made a fake window out of an old TV I had. High CRI led strips, a lace curtain, and some leveling later and we had a nice light source that made it feel less depressing in our room.
We aren’t in a basement anymore, but in winter I put the fake window in the real window around 430ish. It helps with seasonal depression a bit, but I miss actual sunlight every year. Especially now that I have a job that has me inside, away from windows, from before sunrise to after sunset.
I like the night. It’s definitely got a certain vibe that I quite enjoy. Daytime can be cool too, but it does suck having the sun getting in your eyes sometimes. Especially if you live somewhere in higher elevation where the sun is more bright. The only thing that sucks about night for me is that all the shops are closed super early nowadays ever since covid :/
It feels that way as someone who has lived in the Midwest my whole life. I’m only comfortable above 60 and can never get warm when I get that no matter how many layers I put on when I’m forced to go outside.
