CQC skills would be handy for a stereotypical wizard. They’ll never expect it! Conversely, no one would expect wizardry from an orc in boxing gear.
Wizard Boxing sounds kinda awesome, like chess boxing but with a special effects budget. XD
Yeah, and it becomes a lot more intuitive if you replace the word “boxing” with “kung fu” or some other eastern martial art term! In manga, fighters mixing martial arts and magic is completely standard.
IIRC, BaGua kung fu (ie. one of the styles that lion dancers use) is referred to as “water boxing”, so 🤘🏼

Your gloves get enchanted before the battle with special effects, maybe during the battle you can enchant them further.
Otherwise it’s a pretty legit boxing game, just with wizards.
