I report ads as sexually explicit all the time. Annoying jingle? That’s inappropriate sexual material. Same ad twice in an evening? Inappropriate sexual material. A company that supports the regime? You better believe that’s inappropriate sexual material.

I boycott anyone who advertises on YouTube. Google do 1% of the work and take 70% of the money. They can go fuck themselves. The only reason I use YouTube is because there’s so much stuff that simply isn’t anywhere else, they have a total monopoly.

As much as I hate both ads and Google, your comment is horribly out of touch. You have no idea how expensive video hosting is if you think Google does 1% of the work. There is a reason they have a monopoly, YouTube has been making a loss for most of the time it has existed.

Strongly worded letter? Takes about 3 second to throw into the trash.

Bad review? Let’s just flood the review section with AI bots.

Call company public contact number? Somebody has to pay for a phone operator to listen to me bitch - Albeight in a polite way as the phone operator first line economic wage slaves aren’t to blame for shit? THAT SHIT COSTS MONEY!

So what do the fucccccs do? Save on money, have two phone operators so they can say there’s a support line (Let’s not talk about 63 hours waiting time when people phone in) - And then force people over on support chat, half of them won’t even notice they’re getting the run-around by a soulless machine…

    EVERYBODY HATED THAT

Why are you even accept having to watch ads? Firefox + ublock origin. Stop using a smart TV and connect a small linux PC to your TV.

Everyone should have adblocker. It is the moral thing to do. Ads are badly supporting creators as it promotes a race to the clickbaitiest, and centralisation around plateforms that can do arbitrary censorship. Just let the add business-model crumble and what will remain will be qualitatively better.

Just a guess about what a world withour ad-supported platforms could look like:

There will be fewer 4k videos of everything. But there will be options to pay for great content that is not made to boost your dopamine and is better for creators. Collaborative tools like wikipedia will strive, and we will see a return to blogs as a way to share knowledge freely as it requires little ressources to host. LLM generated blogs will disappear as there will be little incentive for the publisher. The cost of hosting and computer hardware will drop as we’ll use way less ressources with low quality addictive content (that are used as a vehicle for ads)

I just don’t even understand how people allow themselves to be served ads in 2025. I use ublock origin and sponsor block on YouTube, and I only pirate shows and movies and whatnot.

We don’t, but they force them down our throat anyways. The people that own the things we love don’t use them, they justake money off of them. What do they care?! Someone gives them money and we are still here consuming it.

This. They spend billions of dollars to make you watch ads, if you don’t watch them then they are pissing away their money. I haven’t seen a digital ad in years, but it took a one-time investment of time to set up a pihole adblocker, switch to a privacy focused phone OS, setup custom launcher on my Android TV box to have an ad-free home screen, etc. I pay for ad-free YouTube, but that’s the only paid service I use, and I use a client that skips over every in-video ad automatically. Granted, I have a huge Jellyfin server that makes it so I don’t have to use any of the big streaming services

Edit: Feel stupid for responding to a bot, but oh well. Robot made a good point lol
