Cooking may be a feminine thing in the US, but many cultures don’t see it that way. At least in France, Italy, China, and Japan (each having their reputation for food) a chief is most likely a male. And it is kind of abnormal for an adult man to do not know anything about cooking.
But yes, don’t let your boys grow thinking they may remain kids all their life. Women of thwir generation are most likely going to expect from them they be grown up…
A chef isn’t someone who cooks. Chef are, as far as I can tell, a male dominated profession. This is about learning to (home) cook meals. Those are two very different things and skill sets although similar in product.
Take, for example, Drew Talbert’s shorts. Kitchen staff is portrait as 3 man and a woman, iirc. Well known cooks on YouTube such as Kenji Lopez-Alt and Helen Rennie are 1-1 for me. I have also come across the Ethan Cheblowski(?) and the Italo-American whose name I forgot.

These posts are so outdated. This should have been a PSA in 1995. Cooking is not considered feminine in the US. This generation is being raised by millennials that have made a massive split from the way their parents raised them and traditional roles. Kids are also exposed to men in the kitchen way more. Just think about the ridiculous amount of cooking shows on tv and being advertised. Also, I don’t know about anyone else, but cooking the turkey was one of the few times my dad actually did go into the kitchen and was considered a manly task in my mind. And the parents that do still raise their kids with those outdated family roles aren’t gonna be persuaded by some “woke” tweet. I think the message should be just to involve your kids in the preparation of things like this. Give them responsibilities. Start teaching them how to adult early in life.
