Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Americans with six-figure incomes are in 'survival mode'English
4·2 days agoI think that the idea was that there is a special point where you feel secure and nothing beyond that makes any difference. But that $75k number sounds familiar. It’s probably more like $120k today.

12·2 days agoThe weird part is why they would want to take on the legal exposure. There’s far too much opportunity to complain about discrimination due to membership in various classes.

3·2 days agoIt won’t happen. Even Dems sided with Reps recently and gave them everything they wanted. You can’t trust either one of these groups, though there are individuals within that you can trust.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What old movies hold up because of a lack of special effects or because clever use of effects?
21·5 days agoI agree. Even when it was new and I went “wow look where the technology has gone!” I still felt that it was insufficient and would age. Honestly the movies are fantastic until they try to show giant orc armies and then it’s a bit MEH.

4·5 days agoForever underappreciated. They were hiring research professors at universities to do that stuff. It was so cutting edge that it was actually experimental.

I had forgotten, thank you very much.
