that’s sorta the nature of rng, it will make the experience very different for different people.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•If a trunk at the front is called fruck, then a trunk at the back should be brunk.
121·21 hours agothe bonnet is the hood, though, right? the british term, using the same rule as frunk, should be “froot”.
of course.
dishwasher. it uses way less water than even filling the sink once. it obviously uses more electricity than doing it by hand though. you gotta think about the value of the time saved as well.

2·3 days agonostr has a pretty bad reputation due to the nature of the protocol’s inception and the people involved. any time that specific network is brought up, the discussion pivots.

2·3 days agowell in this case it was made clear they were mistaken about the whole thing and therefore the passive-aggressive tone they were using was completely unwarranted.
what interests me with gabe’s comments at the time is that he didn’t have the same complaints as the “normal users”. he didn’t comment on the UI basically at all, which makes sense because steam’s ten-foot interface released about the same time as metro. the ui was never the main problem with W8, it was the vendor lock-in that came from the microsoft store.
if he’s not named Karl, we will make him Karl.

i don’t know if it still does it but it would, without fail, translate the expression “sagan om _” (the story of _) to “the lord of _”. no cookie for guessing why.

41·3 days agono, as in, the developer built nostr because he wanted a twitter-like microblogging platform he couldn’t be banned from.
really, this is skim-reading territory. you could have saved us both a lot of time by just reading the history of the thing.

my take on that is that it’s bullshit. when your metaprogression is based on knowledge, it’s dependent on letting players access that knowledge to begin with. personally it took me until day 40 to roll credits because i simply was not given the rooms i needed to understand the puzzles. i showed my gallery to a friend who got there much quicker and they noted that i was still missing some of the more basic rooms.
the risk in rng-based games is always that someone gets shafted, and when the game is also story based, those people effectively get locked out of the story. the people thinking it did not deserve the reaction simply did not get the worst rolls.
