TechTakes@awful.systems•KeePassXC doubles down on AI useEnglish
9·14 hours agoThe KeePassXC team just knowingly introduced a policy that is proven to produce vulnerable code into a software project where there is next to no margin for error and you are asking why we are upset? They can keep their vibe coded password manager.
Chinese with Jessie translated a bunch of westeners’ chinese tattoos and you are not to far from the truth.

Europe@feddit.org•EU Continues Exporting Banned Pesticides to Global South Despite Pledge to End TradeEnglish
2·19 hours agoThese pesticides definitely shouldn’t be produced anymore, but I think the various governments of the “global south” have to step up as well and regulate this for themselves.

TechTakes@awful.systems•Stubsack: weekly thread for sneers not worth an entire post, week ending 16th November 2025English
9·20 hours agoJust so we all know, not liking AI slop code is xenophobic.

TechTakes@awful.systems•KeePassXC doubles down on AI useEnglish
111·1 day agoFunny, but I did and I fundamentally disagree with the use of slop code in my password manager.

TechTakes@awful.systems•KeePassXC doubles down on AI useEnglish
6·1 day agoThere is an unofficial mono port available but it looks like ass and, since it also can’t do autofill in my browser, it has no benefits over GNOME Secrets.

TechTakes@awful.systems•KeePassXC doubles down on AI useEnglish
7·1 day agoThere is no official support for Linux and I am pretty sure that the browser plugin is windows only. I liked the browser integration of KeePassXC but I will probably need to say goodbye to that feature as nothing else supports that on Linux. GNOME Secrets looks OK as an alternative.

Linux@programming.dev•Trinity R14.1.5 Desktop Environment Released With Multi-Monitor Tiling
4·1 day agoSounds cool but why not link the Trinity announcement directly.

Programming@programming.dev•What do you think the future of Windows is?
12·1 day agoWe are basically already there with Windows 365. It’s the comeback of the thin-client and the main frame. Everything old is new again.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Dutch cycling website outspoken about having to close because of AI-related content theft
16·1 day agoI am doing one big cycling tour every summer and was considering Holland for next year. Losing this resource is a damn shame. I can only hope that the information there will be still be correct enough to be useful.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Seven more families are now suing OpenAI over ChatGPT's role in suicides, delusions
301·2 days agoI hope this keeps OpenAI employees up at night. They are directly responsible for this. They could have stopped at any point and thought about the effects of their software on vulnerable people but didn’t. Maybe they should talk to ChatGPT if they feel sad about it, I am sure it has good ideas about the correct course of action.
Looking at the topics that rank above it, is it really a surprise? If you are worried about making next months rent and putting food on the table, you probably wont care that much about climate change.
If this bunny can date a girl bunny four times its size, you can date a woman a few centimeters taller.

I use an alternative to Spotify called “a folder full of mp3s”. If you are into selfhosting you could also stream your collection using Navidrome but putting audio files on your phone works as well. If you need a recommendation algorithm you can sync your listens to listenbrainz.org or lastfm. There are quite a few Linux audio players that support the scrobble API.

Linux@programming.dev•Debian demands Rust or rust in peace for legacy ports
0·7 days agoI think it is perfectly reasonable to drop some CPU architectures that haven’t been relevant in the last 20 years. It seems to me there are a lot of new people eager to contribute who have no interest in touching C any more than necessary, and a project that can no longer attract new contributors will sooner or later die.

1·7 days agoI am using posteo.de. They are good but I dislike that they have no option for using your own domain which makes switching provider really annoying. If I had to choose a provider again I would probably go with mailbox.org.

Linux@programming.dev•I must have died and gone to heaven [nushell]
1·2 months agoThis might be unpopular in Linux spaces but I consider Powershell for the most part well designed. I think its better suited to writing scripts than bash, but worse at being an interactive shell.

Then go be an AI slop enjoyer somewhere else. You have a whole internet full of it.
