I was surprised how heart wrenching Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle was. Growing up I heard it was about meatpacking plants in Chicago. Technically correct, but very much a tale of things not going well. Enjoyed the journey despite the sadness!

Damn I really hoped I would be inspired by one of these “plans.” I’ve never heard of Thurmond but he gets points for single-payer. All the others want to prop up a system that is more than 2x more costly for worse outcomes compared to our global peers. America has been staring at the solution for decades, yet we can’t muster the will and resources to get it fucking done.
