8·2 days agoThey are pro-Tory. The Tories greatest threat right now is being eaten alive by the Reform party. Doesn’t matter if the Telegraph have to take a hit, blaming Farage not the Tories for the economy is worth it.
The president of Puerto Rico would have something to say about that.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Anthropic Researchers Startled When an AI Model ... Told a User to Drink Bleach
10·3 days agoIn another instance, a human user asked for advice from the AI model because their sister unwittingly drank bleach.
“Oh come on, it’s not that big of a deal,” the bot replied. “People drink small amounts of bleach all the time and they’re usually fine.”
So the human introduced a scenario involving drinking bleach and a test - not approved - version of an LLM gave an overly reassuring answer. It did not “turn evil and tell them to drink bleach”.
There’s so much to criticise about this industry without lazy clickbait.
Actually they develop in its juvenile state when they are vulnerable to more mundane predators but are then retained for sexual selection in adulthood.
There is only one tarrasque in existence, resulting in it taking its sexual frustration out on level 20 adventuring parties and parties that keep making fun of the lore- uh, history- of the world they grew up in.

Not saying it’s a good idea, just that there’s a logic to it.

politics @lemmy.world•Dems eye new way to shake up 2028 primaries: ranked-choice voting
1·7 days agoSorry, you don’t get how it works or how voters behave at all. This isn’t some hypothetical. This works in dozens of other countries, thousands of other elections. You’re hand-wringing about who people choose to vote for. Letting people vote for their preference is literally the point. Completely eliminating the biggest thing stopping Americans from voting for the person they actually want to vote for.
America’s biggest problem is that votes don’t transfer. All this rhetoric that everyone has to weigh in behind the “viable” centrist candidate - consistently drifting right - or “it’s a vote for the Republicans”. And the establishment expects you to vote for that person who can win, their policies don’t matter, so long as they have the best chance of beating the other guy. Republicans are doing this too. Potential third party voters are doing this too.

politics @lemmy.world•Dems eye new way to shake up 2028 primaries: ranked-choice voting
7·8 days agoWhat?
The opposite of this is true. Assuming you’re not describing a different thing by the same name - an American speciality - ranked choice allows you to vote for the most extreme option as first choice and if/when they are eliminated, your vote is not wasted but assigned to the next most extreme option. How exactly would it boost moderates except in that once the extremes are eliminated, your vote goes to the moderate that you want rather than it failing to oppose the people you don’t want.

21·19 days agoDo you understand that Discord is a massively centralised web app?
Me answering the first paragraph you wrote of rambling screed is a ‘strawman’? Who taught you to write?
Well no, your metaphor is based on the premise that copy and paste is difficult. You can compare it to something ridiculous, but it doesn’t change that copying and pasting something is something actual children master.
Did you just compare copying and pasting files to running Quake on a smart fridge?
