Since I invariably wind up getting “name suits” types of comments, here’s the explanation behind it:
Around the turn of the millennium, I was trying to come up with a username to use on a particular site that had a shortish character count limit for usernames. My goal was something related to the fact that I would often be making my points in arguments with “holier-than-thou” types by taking what they were saying, and turning it on its head so the offensive stuff was directed back at them.
I also happened to learn shortly beforehand that many years ago “'ape” was somewhat commonly used as a verb to mean “imitate” or “copy.”
I’m sure you can figure the rest out.

The Vatican has been too “woke” for the right-wing for at a couple popes now.
Take pride in being more Jesus-like than any of those assholes. You’re poor because you don’t spend your time concocting ways to fleece other poor people out of what little money they have.
Oh, they’ll find a completely nonsensical way to twist things so it still is in their minds just so they can avoid every having to admit fault or error.

Yeah, I glanced at it despite already knowing of the term. Irrelevant. I find the attitude blowing off what really happened in order to make a bad joke meme disgustingly inappropriate and insensitive.

That’s true, but at least some of them are less likely to be beholden to the wealthy, which actually gives the public a chance at choosing better. With the US two-party system, there’s little such opportunity.

They don’t have economies anywhere near the size of Texas. TX can easily afford to do the right thing, but instead chooses to do the right-wing thing.
