  • It’s hard for everyone. 60 hours of work week sounds like you need a new job. That’s not something that can be sustained over the long haul and I don’t think it leaves you time for an affair or drinking habit. In terms of practical changes: Transition your kid to 9pm bedtime, get help with the cooking and hire someone to clean each week if you have to work that much and can’t do anything about it for now.

My husband has a busy season - during this time I do more of the household stuff because he is working 9-9 six days a week. I have a busy season too - during this time I don’t try to cook every day, husband helps out more.

But all year we get help with cleaning, every other week.

  • I tease my husband about this - there was a Barney (the dinosaur) episode where he was showing the kids how to make fruit salad, by mixing together fruit that had been chopped and put into individual bowls, they combined them into one big bowl. I was SO MAD because what the fuck? He showed literally NONE of the work at all. So when husband is grilling, I prep everything and he puts it on the grill and he will joke he made it and I will say sure, like Barney.

But he cleans, man does he clean. I suck at that. I do not feel overwhelmed or overworked. 'Cleaning up after" is a separate job. Sure I do some as I go, not explode the kitchen, but not what I’d call cleaning.

  • It’s funny though - a guy my size is still stronger than me and guys shorter than me often still outmass me and are stronger than me, it’s strange that it’s so hyperfocused on height.

Husband is my height but outweighs me by 50-60lb and can lift 2x what I can on my best day. I’m literally smaller and weaker, lol, despite being neither small nor weak.

  • I have found lots of guys don’t want to date anyone as tall or taller than them (or one guy who fetishized it, which was so not better) it’s certainly not just women driving this preference.

But can’t say that being tall as a lady has ever really kept me from finding partners, and the short guys I know in real life also do fine, so I think this is usually more of a weak preference not a criteria.

  • I don’t follow pro sports, sometimes watch the college teams or the international gymnastics amateur competitions. Occasionally a soccer (football) match of our not top division but good local team but not often. Just not into watching men play games usually. But stuff like gymnastics and ice skating is so entertaining to watch. Competitive dance too.

There really isn’t any value past entertaining you, right? If it’s not entertaining you anymore, the value is gone.

Oh I guess I forgot rugby. I do not follow it at all but find it fun to watch. And the college used to put the basketball games on their TV channel with all the timeouts, halftime, everything taken out so it was just st gameplay and I always enjoyed those too. So sometimes I do like watching men play games if they are all action and not too long.

  • Yeah, no. That is not what I signed up for.

We do lift each other up, it’s not a one way thing. Can advise, and do, and he does with me too. So sure, I am willing to make suggestions and he always wants me to do stuff like style his wardrobe, do all the interior design, etc., yeah I’m down, my eye is better. He plans all the trips, his mom was a travel agent.

But would not dream of using sex as a lever, because I want sex for sex.

And I sure as fuck don’t want another kid, I want a partner.

  • Yeah for what I’d pay for a burrito at Chipotle I can go get a burrito at a local place instead. I am not a chain restaurant person anyway, but the prices are equivalent now, there’s kind of no point to them.

I do actually go to Panera sometimes because it’s across the street from my work, it’s so expensive but do feel like I get some nutrition at least. And there is no local bagel place so I get those there sometimes too. But my kids who used to eat more junk food from chains are meal prepping their lunches now to save money, with no input from me they just got tired of it. I don’t think they’d go back now they are used to making food that they like.

  • Oh God once I had a “status migraine” (if you don’t know don’t ask you don’t want to know) and had to go to my doctor to get shot up with an elephant’s worth of painkillers to sort of take the edge off and knock me out and stuff to stop me from puking, and they let my boyfriend in while I was literally bent over the table with my pants down getting a shot in my butt, vomiting. Not my husband, or other family member. My boyfriend. That doctor was no respecter of medical privacy, that’s for sure.

We are married now, for years. And he does say that cozy clothes are sexy clothes. Also socks that go past the knee, lol.
