11·8 hours agobecause their parents did and they don’t know better and can’t be bothered to read real news?
OR some people just don’t believe the same things you do, and they vote Republican. Welcome to democracy.
Not everyone who votes differently than you is just ignorant and can’t be bothered to read news.
Pushing the fallacy that Republicans/republican voters are ignorant or uninformed, is what made you all lose to Trump. Twice. You lost to Trump 2 different fucking times. Look in a mirror!
I know plenty of republicans who are smart and a force to be reckoned with. I don’t agree with or subscribe to a lot of their views, but I wouldn’t call them ignorant.
Thinking they’re ignorant is what fucked the Dem party in the first place.
Also, before people attack me for being a Trump. Nah, you can attack me for being “BoTh SiDeS” though, because I think both sides suck equally. I’m a third party voter. And very proud of it.

1·8 hours agoThe article is saying a measurable 13–16% slice of Trump voters now shows some regret or would change their vote, roughly double earlier levels and double Harris voters’ regret. The “5%” is the narrowest possible definition. That’s why different people are quoting different numbers from the exact same piece.
From article: “Just to underscore, these surveys suggest between 1 in 8 and 1 in 6 Trump voters express some measure of regret for their 2024 votes. Were those percentages to desert the GOP in the 2026 midterm elections, it would almost undoubtedly be a wave election for Democrats.”
But that’s great news then, right? Nothing to be worried about then, right? No reason for everyone to be mad. In 2 years, Dems win. Right?
I mean, I’ll be voting third party unless Dems choose AOC, but you all should be fine without me. Right? Hmmm…

1·1 day agoI’m perfectly fine with the ridicule, because I was right. And I totally accept the consequences of my actions, because I was right.
And this discussion started out by me saying that you all censored opinions and tried to control the narrative on here back in 2024.
How’d that work out for ya? Differing opinions on Lemmy got deleted. I saw people who criticized the two-party system got banned and accused of being russian agents.
All because Lemmy was scared of losing the election, at the time. Your whole “oh, it was a different time then though” reasoning sounds very very familiar to what other people of a certain mindset think. Hmmm…
I saw some good independent thinkers be shoo’d off of Lemmy. I saw false accusations and witch hunts happening.
And what did that censorship accomplish? What did trying to silence people accomplish?
NOTHING. You all lost to Trump. For a second time! By a margin so large, that even if all of the third-party voters had voted for Harris, she still would have lost.
I proudly voted third party, and I’ll proudly vote third party again. I will never hold my nose to vote or vote or the “lesser evil.” I’ll vote for who I want to win. Like I always have. And I always will.
I’m very proud of myself and the people who stood against the hate on here. :)
In case ya don’t quite get it: “Democratic National Committee officials who crafted the party’s postmortem on its loss to President Donald Trump in the 2024 election reportedly determined that the Biden administration’s support for Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza cost Kamala Harris votes, contributing to her defeat.”

Yep, just now, in another thread I was accused of being being propaganda. LMAO All because I said that back in 2024, Lemmy was even more hostile to people who criticized the Dem party than they are now. It was wrong to do then, and wrong to do now lol
Democrats just can not accept responsibility for what happened for some reason. It’s always a blame game.
They need better candidates or shit’s gonna get even worse. How hard is it to find someone under the age of 60, and who has independent forward-thinking ideas and cares about the public?! WTF?! I like AOC, but I am not hearing any talk of them putting her in the running, so no clue what they are gonna do. But election is only 2 years away. They need to start doing something.

3·2 days agoThread was under my comments in this thread, so I responded. No that was not my username. I had to change my username because of doxxing attempts and numerous KYS dm’s I was getting. From searching just now, looks like your person is still an active current poster. I guess he didn’t ‘disappear after the election’ either.
I don’t use my old username anymore, and the instance it was on, closed. The person who told me to kill myself several times back then, and tried to dox me, is still around and still posts too. lol
I haven’t been rude or uncivil to you at all.
My profile isn’t ai generated. I’m here right now replying to you. I wrote my profile. Just because someone disagrees with you, it doesn’t mean they’re ai or that they’re bots or that they’re propaganda. Your comments are an exact snapshot of the time period I was talking about. So neither you or I left, and neither of us have changed our minds. Which means you believe in what you are saying, and I believe in what I’m saying. IMHO, neither of us deserve to be censored just because we don’t agree.

493·2 days agoThat’s the important part. Only 5% regret their vote. Most people in this thread who are celebrating and laughing, only read the headline.
This kind of “told you so!” stuff and thinking they were untouchable is what led to the Democrats loss. And will again if people aren’t careful. People need to stop thinking “Not Trump!”, because that doesn’t win elections. Dems need to come up with some good candidates who are more than just “not Trump.”

31·2 days agoThat means, foreign actors paying troll farms, accelerationists, MAGA-in-left’s-clothing.
lololol For lemmy. Which in 2024, had 50,000 active users at most, compared to 236 MILLION voting-age U.S. citizens. And of those 50K Lemmy users, what, maybe 20 were advocating for third party. How much do you think someone would pay 20 people to post on a platform that is so small?! lolol Think about what you are saying.
And they were banned, but what did it do? How did the election turn out? How do you think the election would have turned out if Lemmy didn’t exist? lol
I wish someone paid me to post. LMAO
Was it a sufficient cause on its own? Probably not.
This is the correct answer. So censoring people based on their views wasn’t a great look for Lemmy. And it didn’t change the income anyway.

3·2 days agovery likely bad faith astroturf and propaganda accounts.
And that’s the same tired argument that was made then. Why do you find it so hard to accept that some people just aren’t onboard with either of the two main parties? Look around. Tide is turning. Lots of people on Lemmy now are open to third parties now. Are they all propaganda accounts too?!
This is why you all lost the fucking election. Because you can’t wrap your head around the fact that you may be wrong about things.
Facts: Lemmy had about 40,000–50,000 monthly active users worldwide in November 2024. There were 236 MILLION U.S. citizens voting-age. 154+ MILLION actual ballots cast. Third-party advocates made an even smaller slice of that already microscopic global user base. It’s utterly ludicrous for anyone to think that third-party voters on Lemmy could have split the vote or had any meaningful say whatsoever in the presidential election.
Yet you are ok with them being censored because you were scared of them. How’d that work out? They were banned, and guess what? Trump still won. Again.
those people still magically disappeared completely from Lemmy after the election.
I was told I would “disappear” after the election. Maybe it looks like I did because I had to create a new username (not for ban evading–I actually blocked the instances I was banned from). But here I am.
Am I a ‘propaganda’ account, still going, 2 years after the election?
Not only that, but I see lots of people being accused of being alts of those ‘propaganda’ posters. So did they really disappear if their alts are everywhere? Hmmm…
You want democrats to win the next election? Then pick a candidate who can win. You all lost to Trump twice. Think about that.
Also, even if every single person who voted third party, changed their vote to Harris, she still would have lost. That’s how big the margin of her loss was. Lemmy wasn’t even close to making a dent in any of that, so to blame Lemmy posters for it is crazy.

12·2 days agoThey’re already openly talking about purging 100 million people, and a lot of them would certainly be natural-born citizens.
Hasn’t happened. Won’t happen.
Irrelevant.
Very relevant. You are wondering why so many people are against the Democratic party now. That’s one of the reasons. All of this could have been avoided if the Democrats really cared about people and picked good candidates. They lost to Trump TWICE!
Twice! Think about that. You can keep simping for them all you want, but I’ll vote for who I want to win. No nose holding for me. :)

See, that’s a path I just can’t get on. As crazy as I may seem tho, my gf is more more hardcore. She’d be fine without indoor plumbing, but fuck that, I want my fucking hot showers! I’m pretty tough, but she’s tougher. She doesn’t even go online and wouldn’t even check out Lemmy when I was trying to explain it to her. lol

Thanks. It had an impact on me, as it’s my right to vote for who I want to win. Without regard of who people are afraid of winning. If the Democrats are really concerned, they can pick better candidates.
