I rent, so you don’t get a chance to pass out candy anymore, but it was a bright spot in my childhood. I’m sad that we’ve abandoned that.
Plus, you got to peak into all your neighbors doors and see a bit of their life and it was a positive experience for all involved.

It reminds me of the story of a farmer that was birthing a cow out by the road. A concerned motorist, sees the commotion and pulls over to help out.
A little bit later and the calf is delivered, the farmer notices an intense consternation from his temporary cowboy.
The two watch the calf take some tentative steps and the motorist asks: “exactly how fast was that little one going when they crashed?”
