If you read the book really fast, you can read it multiple times, costing the publisher even more. If you read it enough times, you could even force the publisher into bankruptcy.

Most of the blame should be on the heritage foundation who is coordinating all of this.

81·5 days agoIt doesn’t look like it. They had to make compromises on what to include, otherwise they’d end up with smartwatch that’s larger than a phone.
With it being 100% open source, it should be easy* for someone to add these features.

20·5 days agoThe founder explains in this blog post about the original failure of pebble, and why pebble shouldn’t have focused on fitness.
They’re coming back as a tool/toy for the enthusiasts who want to tinker.
I used to be afraid of getting old, but I like this perspective. It’s not something to look forward to, but something to be proud of.

13·6 days agoI went to a company “recently” to test one of their products, intending to buy one if it worked. It didn’t work.
They made the mistake of leaving me alone with it for half an hour, during which time I fixed the product and provided them with a detailed set of instructions on how to get the product working, and a list of recommendations for improvements.
The company hired me a week later in a contractor position (I get paid for work done, not time spent). It’s been about 6 months so far and they haven’t given me any work yet, but they keep promising it will be any day now.
Details deliberately left vague for privacy.

9·6 days ago#1 is really useful for 3d modeling. I can work out most of the details in my head, then put the final design into a computer to print.
I once managed to write an entire OpenSCAD model on paper. When I typed it into a computer (aside from a few syntax errors) the model was exactly as I wanted.
The advantages are very fast design iterations. The disadvantages are that I have to remember the entire final product and not confuse it with any previous iteration while writing it down; and that I have to actually write it down and not just assume that the 3d printer will start on its own.

11·6 days agoI hate the websites that have “Accept all” or “Accept necessary only”, but if you use a privacy browser that refuses all cookies the site works anyway.
Their “necessary” cookies aren’t actually necessary, you just can’t reject them.
I wonder if there’s even a difference between “all” and “necessary”.
