Hanging Rock is just down the road from me. I’ve long wanted to do some piece for it. I’ve also wanted to do draw something vaguely Mouse Guard themed. Today I decided to combine the two. Why did I go high contrast? That just seemed the way to do it. After putting down the first line I wasn’t sure I made the right call. But I think it’s passable.

    Love it. There is something oddly appealing about Mouse Guard / Mausritter stuff. I guess little heroic mice are cute, but they also recontextualise the natural world, which draws us into the scene. But it’s really refreshing to see it with such a striking style and other modern touches (the little guy looks like he’s ready for a Revolutionary War).
