Way more than 4.
Well, I said at least 4.
I was thinking Jazz, Rock, Disco, and Rap specifically.
I’m afraid I’m not musically competent enough to make the distinction between Hip-Hop and Rap, or the history of Techno and House (or the difference between those two, for that matter - a philistine, I know 😬), and I wasn’t certain if there was a major panic or teen craze around Blues music.
There was was a panic around disco? Huh, TIL.
I also don’t know the difference between hip-hop and rap. Separated them out to be on the safe side.
I do know the difference between house and techno and get mildly annoyed when people use either of them as umbrella terms for dance music. It’d be fair for fans of hip-hop and rap to feel the same.
In case you’re interested (and very simplified): Techno started in Detroit and was influenced by early German and French synthesiser music, plus the car factories.
House started in Chicago and was influenced by soul, gospel and disco.

The hate this genre attracted was otherworldy. Perfect storm of heteronormatism, anti-LGBT, racism and rockism.
With respect to Hiphop and Rap, I was a HipHop fan for years and I still don’t get the difference. Best explanation I could offer is that Hiphop isn’t just Rap, but also dancing, graffiti and DJing (especially the turntablism variety), plus Hiphop music without rapping.
