A British woman who was shot dead by her father while visiting his home in Texas had argued with him about US President Donald Trump earlier that day, an inquest has heard.
Lucy Harrison, from Warrington in Cheshire, was shot in the chest on 10 January 2025 in Prosper, near Dallas.
Police in the town investigated the 23-year-old’s death as possible manslaughter but no criminal case was brought against Kris Harrison after a grand jury in Collin County declined to indict him.
An inquest into Lucy Harrison’s death opened earlier at Cheshire Coroner’s Court, where her boyfriend Sam Littler described the “big argument” about Trump, who was preparing to be inaugurated for his second term of office.

Dude admitted he was an alcoholic who had already had a bottle of wine before the shooting, and they couldn’t get a manslaughter charge to at least go to trial? Being drunk and accidentally killing someone is manslaughter.
This country is so fucked up.
In religiously paternalistic Texas, killing one’s own children is a God-given biblical right.
Unless they’re unborn! There is nothing more sacred than an unborn baby. Born babies can get discarded, though.
She was slandering Dorito Jesus, if anything he’s a hero.
I have heard it said that the prosecution has enormous power over what grand juries get to hear, to such an extent that grand jury results are mostly just a way of formalizing what the prosecutor has already decided. If the state wants an indictment, the state pretty much always gets one.
Served on grand jury, can confirm. In general they will lay it out how they want. You clearly can get their bias in wanting to pursue and not pursue cases.
That and the general “hive mind” lead to very predictable outcomes, especially when you can get early dismissal once you’ve cleared your docket.
