Since i do appreciate (rap) songs even if i don’t understand them, I need some recommendations from YOU for non-english rap songs or artists.
(I can’t really distinguish genres, so I’m trusting your judgment whether your recommendation fits)
(I’m also not a fan of german rap but you can recommended that regardless)
Edit: Thank you all for the recommendations 🐐. I did find a lot of new songs.
I didn’t think I saw it mentioned. The 257ers are a good German duo.
MC Solaar (French rap) Obsolète
If you want a taste of Greek rap (please don’t)
Creepy nuts
Racionais MC and Marcelo D2 for PTBR rap, with the latter being more “hip hop with samba”
The Herd - Unpredictable has some English, but it also has a few other languages and it keeps getting faster. I enjoy it a lot.
Romanian (with a tiny bit of Spanish)
Spanish from Spain (with some Arabic too)
Not much of a domestic rap listener.
For japanese:
Some tracks by Mori Calliope are primarily Rap
Anything from TokyoHealthClubKneecap when they sing in Gaelic
MC Solaar and Guru’s Le Bien, Le Mal had some attention at some point in the history of humans
Came here to mention MC Solaar. His talent is mind blowing.
On the topic of French Hip Hop, here are some more:
Saian Supa Crew: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOHvTmQfXxk
Suprême NTM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biYdUZXfz9I
Hocus Pocus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HSmnIMvgyE (feat the Procussions who also rap in English)
If you don’t mind a throwback, this was popular in French class circa 2002. Manau - La tribu De Dana
Mafia K’1 Fry - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzoBB9NO9Dc
manu chao’s mi gustas tu and his classic album Clandestino in entirety.
edit: i changed choice of manu chao songs because i’m fickle; but Welcome to Tijuana and el disapericdo are more greatness from them.
I love Many Chao, but I would have never interpreted it as rap? Anyway, OP said they cannot distinguish genres so it does not matter.
Bloodywood are metal, but they also rap in Hindi
One of the things I love to hear most in music is artists adding traditional or folk elements from their countries. Even though I find Bloodywood’s English lyrics corny, they’re doing something original, and the harsh vocals in Hindi are great.
Creepy Nuts’ album LEGION from last year is quite good if you want some Japanese rap. They’ve gotten pretty big over the last few years due to being featured on Anime intros for shows like DanDaDan and Mashle.
IAM - L’École du Micro d’Argent
A fantastic French Rap album, including a feature from Wu Tang
My all time favorite album. Glad someone recommended it
Porta, its peak was in the late and early 2010s. This is a fucking anthem for every mexican.
wowww that flow!!
