Cellphone video showed the moment Saturday morning Rafael Veraza says he and his family were pepper sprayed by Border Patrol agents in the parking lot of a Sam’s Club in Cicero, just over the city border from Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood.

“He started spraying from the front of the car towards the back. Basically I got sprayed all over my face,” Veraza said.

He said his 1-year-old daughter Arianna, who was riding in the back of the car, also breathed in the gas. Both were briefly hospitalized.

Oh a court order? Glad this administration cares so much what courts think and order.

What is a court order going to actually do? Are they going to arrest people for defying the orders? Place them in jail for defying their orders? No? then those orders are a useful as the paper they are printed on.

Oh, believe me, I get it.

It is my firm belief that the third box (justice) has failed, because the fascists are doing whatever they want right now, every day, every minute, and the courts are reactive, compromised, slow, and do not apply sufficiently deterrent consequences.

I expressed my extreme frustration very clearly by asking “What are the consequences for violating this court order, and when do they take effect?” and the responses I received were wholly unsatisfactory. I pointed that out as well. I knew that would be the case; I was posing the question in order to elicit the unsatisfactory replies, and then pointing out how bad those replies were, so that the other people in attendance might at least see that perspective, or know that other people share it.
