25m range, I’d worry the drone would keep on a similar enough flight path that the explosion might still be dangerous.

I assume that the vehicle has some protection already and that a small shape charge (possibly angled in the wrong direction due to drone impacting with ground) that goes off like 5m next to the vehicle should not render it out of action. It may be a different situation if the drone carries a EFP or a claymore type warhead that detonates a fair distance away from the vehicle (i have not seen those in common use against vehicle by now tho).

yeah there is no way this is a actual EMP, like one that creates overvoltage thru induction in circuits and hence burns out the drone circuits. this is a “smart” jammer, probably a glorified deauther and it can do nothing against fiber drones

The form factor alone makes it clear that this isnt a EMP, if it in fact where a EMP in this formfactor it had a rage of maybe 3-4m tops.

        Hope that wasnt to credible.

Needs a manual winder for when the BBs get stuck/jammed, you forgot an adjustable hop up unit for each barrel for max range, and a crowd of angry soldier cosplayers in $2000 JPCs and Crye multicam BDUs yelling “take your fucking hits pal!”

I was thinking about hop up integration, but due to the rotation of the whole thing that would create some very strange paths for the BBs, basically a cork screw and that would make the calculations for aiming a lot harder

I doubt that the BBs have enough energy to effectively reach out far enough. You want your projectiles to consistently hit targets at safe distances and do sufficient damage on impact. Compared to NATO standard 5.56x45mm bullets with >1,700J of energy at the muzzle this proposed solution looks like it could use a little more hair on the chest.

      6J x 80 BBs/s x 4 Barrels per target direction = 1920J of energy per second on target.

What good is a Singular high energy bullet if it dosent hit. Dosent take much to break a spinning prop of a drone…

Was ist denn das für eine Milchmädchenrechnung?

If your calculation made sense we could shoot cotton balls at tanks to blow them up as long as we use enough cotton balls. This is not a video game where we need to whittle down an enemy unit’s HP pool.

That said, I agree with you that any projectile-based drone defense is probably going to have to rely on volume of fire. My objection was merely that BBs aren’t going to do enough (edit: and have terrible ballistics) .

Perhaps a scaled down version of C-RAM would do the trick. Still cheaper than Ukraine’s current method of burning through 35mm Gepard rounds, as effective as it may be.

We not talking about downing jet powered drones here, we talking about Quadcopters with fragile Props, and making them crash next to the target instead of into it. This thing isnt supposed to have 3km reach. The specs say 25m and i am confident that that is realistic and more would be also impossible without a runaway in optical recognition requirements and runaway in mechanical complexity. Key of this system over a Singular turret mounted machine gun is that in can engage multiple Drones from different directions at the same time hence countering a saturation attack that would normaly overwhelm existing active protection systems.
