The global south is steadily developing now thanks to countries like China
To be fair, China is an imperialist power that is supporting the Global South in the same way the West enacted the Marshall Plan for Germany and Japan.
China actually helps global south countries. If by imperialism you mean gathering support for their own agenda, sure. But they’re offering material support to Cuba and Venezuela and helping African countries get out of the current neocolonial order.
It’s too early to tell if China will eventually be like the western powers, but so far they haven’t shown signs of being like that. Hell, they forgave debts in several African countries. That’s absolutely the opposite of how the western powers conduct themselves in the global south. Ideally we need to develop to be independent from everyone, but until China actually shows itself to be imperialist let’s not cheapen the word or mislead people on the stark differences in Chinese vs western diplomacy.
No, that’s nowhere close to reality. China isn’t imperialist, full-stop, and that’s why the countries it trades with and establishes strong ties in the global south recieve multilateral development. When the west does so, it forces privatization of safety nets, sets up millitary bases, creates a class of compradors, and runs an extraction campaign.
