The sea of coreless and ram-less consumer GPUs is all over the second hand market in the US. We all knew those chips ended up in china. We all knew nvidia was seeking profits at any cost and chinese money is the white whale of many an MBA’s focus (before getting chased out by the party for not being chinese or owned by chinese anyway…)

It would be way more interesting to know if now after china said no more nvidia if the flow of chips is ongoing, but they probably won’t ever cover that.

You also won’t see too much critical of Google on their channel despite it being one of the biggest threats to privacy and safety, for obvious reasons. Can’t hurt the hand that feeds I guess.

While I don’t doubt there are considerable skeletons in all these parties closets, I do doubt the GN guy.

GN chases down every possible ounce of rage bait and controversy without fail. A lot of the time it fizzles out or doesn’t stand up to any kind of real scrutiny. My fear is that they are more interested in ad revenue generating clicks than honest unbiased journalism.

We do need a network of publicly funded journalism organizations, but being reliant on google’s tit and under the jurisdiction of US law is probably not the way to do it.

These companies own or control dozens or hundreds of subsidiaries across the globe.

Just because the parent “company” is subject to a certain CA law, something like Microsoft Australia LLC or similar would be established somewhere in Australia and be subject to Australian law for all it’s Australian employees. If they hire someone in CA the law doesn’t apply to said person who lives in CA, which isn’t going to help all the Australians.

You’re not just paying for the best plate of food available at the million dollar dinner for those paying the price, they’re offering true honest to god fixing of whatever regulatory and legal hurdles you might have… and for a special price they can upgrade you to the gold tier which includes fixing supreme court judgements in nearly any case.

There’s one other guy who this should have happened to that makes news headlines every single day.

If you ask me, what we really need is an army of bots going around and literally DMCAing absolutely everything on behalf of every business out there that is submitting DMCA requests. Make the process practically impossible to police until someone forces a legislation action that fixes the whole system.

Erroneous DMCA requests should be so severe that once one is reported by a company authorized to perform the requests on behalf of the IP holder, the IP holder should be barred from any agents on their behalf performing them for a time period of at least 90 days… with treble fines. It would be so much fun creating content that baits DMCA but is clearly fair use to break all their shit.

Unless someone is copying what you do nearly 1:1, dmca should not be valid. These clowns and crooks running for office talk all about how regulation stifles innovation and this is a true case for sure. So many small business owners are getting fucked by the wild west of DMCA takedowns today.

People go to walmart for groceries because they’re cheaper than a lot of the other options.

Up here around Boston your cheap choices are literally Market Basket or Walmart. Everything else is substantially more expensive. Wholefoods might have a cute nickname of whole paycheck, but stop and shop, shaws, trader joe’s and others are not really cheaper nowadays and the quality of all of them has gone downhill.

Market Basket is currently undergoing a leadership battle where the guy who has been keeping prices low and employees’ well compensated is being pushed out. If they go the way of everybody else… walmart is substantially cheaper.

To that end, how do you suggest people with very tight budgets that use snap benefits afford groceries? Are you expecting everyone to rely on food banks exclusively? They literally do not have all kinds of things in my area, or at least didn’t when I was young and my parents had to rely on it. I don’t have SNAP and have never had it because i’m fortunate, but it’s not about me. It’s about the people who need it.

Why are we building walls? why aren’t we building bridges?

The crooks in control today are built on a house of cards. One elderly figurehead won’t last long. The current media organizations are controlled by a bunch of billionaires pushing propaganda to keep the crooks in that are letting them earn a shitload of money while taxes are low before they lose their grasp on power.

Pitting nations against each other is just another political tool. We’re fighting when we should be planning together to build a strategy to fix the problems and putting it into action.

The idea that forcing a signup (building a web of information about a user through the use of cookies and other browser metadata) to protect against AI (that is gonna use tooling, mirrors, proxies and any number of fully working methodologies) is ludicrous.

They just want to track who you are, what you do, and then sell that data which should never have been gathered in the first place as part of their advertising revenue.
