Yeah, so this was never true, the car’s year is irrelevant.

Omg, look at this person in a Toyota, their next car will prob be a W150:

Yeah, agreed on all of that.
Usually being Maya the one commenting on the rich always felt weird or an ez writing setup bcs the points could always be dispersed as a funny, shallow bit (even tho they had her say some meaningful stuff … but ya know, it’s a comedy).
I didn’t mean it as a huge issue, just what it stood out for me even more on the recent-ish rewatch.
(Trumper was an issue at the time too.)
Yeah, mostly - or the not-so-well aged parts are at least kinda era accurate.
They mostly don’t justify/normalize the sleazy shit, mostly, they do still glorify the rich & exploitation/objectification of women for massive profits.
They also mention Trump several times.
Overall still a very enjoyable show.

This goes the other way too - can’t be too attentive (“nice” def isn’t the right word, bcs never be an asshole) bcs both man and women act (!!) like that when they have “romantic intent”.
I have to wait a couple of years to treat my friends/colleagues the way I want to (classic example: if I see a thing that makes me think of you/that would be useful to you, I wanna buy it as a gift - can’t really do to most folk after you’ve know only for a couple of weeks without it being weird).
Yeah, omg, how it’s this still a thing (better than the older models, but still).
The production value on not-that-cheap cars is bad, but folks just don’t care?
(It used to be that ppl thought fancy or rugged cars were fancy/rugged bcs of how they were built, not bcs someone in an ad told them so even after they’ve seen the car irl.)
It’s like the industry didn’t learn anything from Toyota’s infamous entry into the USA production market.
